What is a Custom Domain?
By default, every checkout link and storefront Creem creates for your store lives oncreem.io. A custom domain lets you serve those same pages on a subdomain you own, for example pay.yourbrand.com or checkout.yourbrand.com.
Your customers see your brand in the address bar from the first click to the receipt. Nothing else changes: the checkout, the payment methods, the tax handling, and the webhooks you receive are identical.
Key Features
- Branded checkout: New checkout links for your store are created on your domain as soon as it is active.
- Branded storefront: Your storefront and product pages are served on the same domain.
- Managed certificates: Creem issues and renews the TLS certificate. You only add DNS records.
- Wallets included: Apple Pay is registered for your domain automatically after activation, and Google Pay works as soon as the domain is active.
- Safe by default: Only checkout and storefront pages exist on your domain. Creem’s dashboard, marketing site, and sign-in pages are never served there.
Requirements
- A subdomain you control. Use a subdomain such as
pay.yourbrand.com. Root domains (yourbrand.com) are not supported, because most DNS hosts cannot point a root domain with the record Creem needs. - Access to your DNS provider. You will add two records: one that points the subdomain at Creem and one that proves you own it.
- One domain per store. A store can have one custom domain at a time. Remove it before connecting a different one.
Connecting Your Domain
1
Open Settings → Custom domain
In your dashboard, go to Settings and open the Custom domain tab. Enter the subdomain
you want to use and click Connect domain.
2
Add the required DNS records
Creem shows the records your domain needs, each with a Name and a Value you can copy.
Add every record at your DNS provider exactly as shown. All records are required: the domain
stays inactive until each one is detected.
3
Wait for verification
Creem re-checks your DNS automatically every few minutes and marks each record as Detected
once it sees it. DNS changes can take up to an hour to propagate. Use Check now to trigger a
check immediately.
4
Start selling on your domain
When the status turns Active, new checkout links, your storefront, and your product pages
are created on your domain. Links you created before activation keep working on
creem.io.Domain Status
A domain only becomes active after Creem has confirmed the ownership record in your DNS. A hostname that merely points at Creem is never activated without that proof, which protects your customers from someone else claiming your domain.
Apple Pay and Google Pay
The Wallet compatibility section of the tab shows the state of each wallet on your domain.- Apple Pay requires Apple to verify each domain that shows the Apple Pay button. Creem registers your domain with Apple automatically after it becomes active. This usually completes within a few minutes and needs nothing from you. If the registration fails, use the retry button in the dashboard or contact support if it keeps failing.
- Google Pay needs no per-domain registration and works as soon as your domain is active.
Removing a Domain
Click Remove domain in the Custom domain tab. Removal is immediate and has two consequences:- Checkout links you already sent to customers on that hostname stop working.
- New checkout links for the store go back to
creem.io.
Using the API
No API changes are needed. When your domain is active, thecheckout_url returned by Create Checkout and the links on your products and storefront already point at your domain. Webhooks, the customer portal, and API keys are unaffected.
